CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- When Trina Butler-Satchell's mother was diagnosed with dementia in 2012, she wanted to help her remember color sensory and visual stimulation.
Butler-Satchell was inspired to create JipTwists, a reusable fabric tie company made in south suburban Matteson, which has several assortment packages of different colors, patterns and themes to help people stay organized, make sensory connections and identify items in a fun way.
“JipTwists actually means to join-in-place but it also gives homage to my mother and father. It’s their initials,” Butler-Satchell said.
Her late father encouraged her to pursue her company, which now has become an integral part of her life after she started selling Jiptwists three years ago at festivals and craft shows.
