AURORA — An 18-year-old Aurora man is accused of a series of recent attacks on women.

The first attack occurred April 17 in the 400 block of North Titsworth Avenue, police said. A woman in her late-40s said a man approached her and grabbed her buttocks, then fled when she struck the offender with an umbrella.

On April 23, a woman in the 500 block of East Benton Street said a man attempted to sexually assault her in a yard. The victim, in her 50s, struggled and was able to break free, police said.

On April 30 a woman in her 20s told police she was the victim of a similar attack near Kensington Place and Elmwood Avenue. On May 3, a teenage girl said she was groped by a man in the 500 block of Second Avenue.

Officers spotted a man matching the suspect’s description and detained him, Aurora police said.

Zion Banks of the 200 block of T Street is charged in connection with all four incidents, police said. Charges against him include aggravated battery, attempted criminal sexual assault and unlawful restraint.

Detectives believe that Banks may be connected to similar assaults. Anyone with information is asked to call the Investigations Division at (630) 256-5500.
