(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Indiana State Police are searching for a man who bit a state trooper during a traffic stop Saturday morning.
the vehicle was pulled over on I-80 for an equipment violation, according to the news release from Indiana State Police.
Police say the man refused to identify himself and became aggressive when the trooper tried to place him under arrest, later biting the trooper's arm.
The trooper then discharged his taser, striking the man with no effect.
At the same time, a 6-year-old child riding in the vehicle got out and began walking near traffic. The driver then fled from police on foot, leaving the child at the scene.
The child was later released to its mother, but the search for the driver continues.
Indiana State Police are investigating.
