(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Prosecutors say a 24-year-old South Shore woman had to be hospitalized for four days, after her boyfriend assaulted her last week because she had male friends on Snapchat.
The Cook County State's Attorney's office says the couple had been living together since March and had a child together.
Last week, 33-year-old Victor Castro went through his girlfriend's phone and got angry when he discovered she had several male friends on Snapchat, prosecutors said.
State's Attorney's spokeswoman Tandra Simonton said Castro threatened to burn the girlfriend's bare chest with a lighter for every male friend she'd slept with.
"Defendant dragged the victim by her hair from the living room to the bedroom. Defendant tied the victim's hands behind her back and tied the victim's ankles together with clear packing tape,” Simonton said.
Castro then burned the girlfriend, as he had threatened, punched her in the stomach and poked her with a pocketknife, prosecutors said.
Castro is charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault. He was ordered held without bond.
