(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Donations are being taken on behalf of an Illinois state trooper who was fatally shot last week while serving a search warrant in the St. Louis area.
Trooper Nicholas Hopkins, 33, was struck by gunfire Friday and later died at a hospital. A suspect, Chris Grant, 46, has been charged with first-degree murder in St. Clair County; he's being held on $5 million bond.
