CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mayor Lightfoot is not endorsing the Community Benefits Agreement two Aldermen are proposing around the planned Barack Obama Presidential Library; but, she’s not dismissing the idea either.South Side Aldermen Leslie Hairston and Jeanette Taylor have introduced an ordinance designed to protect the affordability of homes near the Jackson Park site of the Obama Presidential Center. President Obama and his Foundation have resisted committing to specifics; but some local residents fear being priced out of their homes.

Mayor Lightfoot hadn’t see the Aldermen’s proposal and was withholding judgement.

"I'll certainly review it closely. I know this is an issue that remains at the heart of the community's concerns. That's why we are going into the community starting this week to sit down and listen to folks," Mayor Lightfoot said.

Just the day before, she noted that many people are distrustful of government promises and want something in writing.
