CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mayor Lori Lightfoot is criticizing the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency for an incident in which its agents reportedly raised the anxiety in Pilsen yesterday, just by their presence.Tensions were high when 25th Ward Alderman Byron Sigcho-Lopez tweeted that his office had reports some ICE agents were spotted in Pilsen. One report said they entered a restaurant.Mayor Lightfoot heard about it too, and she wasn’t happy. In light of an ICE sweep through a food processing plant in Mississippi — where hundreds were arrested — Lightfoot called the reported actions in Pilsen "grossly insensitive."
"We had reports of them going door to door to businesses," Lightfoot said. "It underscores the environment in which people are absolutely fearful of what ICE can and might do."
