CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – The Bears’ postseason run coincides with an exhibit at Chicago's Museum of Broadcast Communications on "Saturday Night Live” and its memorabilia about a group certain recurring characters.

The "Super Fans" sketch made its debut 28 years ago this month, back when Mike Ditka still coached the Bears. The museum has several artifacts from the recurring sketch, which featured beer-swilling, mustachioed men from Chicago who talked with thick city accents and sang the praises of the Monsters of the Midway.

Their constant rallying cry: “Da Bears!”

"When (the exhibit) came to Chicago I specifically asked the curator to ask SNL for the 'Super Fans’ costumes. I'm so glad we did -- maybe we brought the Bears some luck this year,” said Betsy Shepherd, the museum’s director of PR and special events.

The characters and their catch phrase are still timely, she said.

"People still say it. Everywhere you look the Bears are using ‘Da Bears’ again in all their marketing, so it's pretty fun to see how it lives on,” Shepherd said.
