CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The historic Museum of Science and Industry is changing its name to honor the donor who gave the museum a $125 million gift.
The Kenneth C. Griffin Charitable Fund donated to the museum, which has been a science and learning staple to the city since 1933. The museum's new name will be the Kenneth C. Griffin Museum of Science and Industry.
He called it a special day in the museum's history, and added that the money will help sustain its future as a leading educational institution for the next generation.
"The Museum takes its role as a resource for science learning incredibly seriously," Mosena continued in the letter. "We consider it an honor to serve everyone in and around Chicago, and are especially passionate about connecting young people to scientific concepts that will help them build the foundation they need to be at the forefront of the next generation of STEM leaders."
