CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation has added three more names to its wall honoring fallen officers.

Relatives of Officers Samuel Jimenez, Conrad Gary and Eduardo Marmolejo pulled back the blue tape covering their names on the granite wall during an overcast and chilly ceremony Thursday.

Police Supt. Eddie Johnson gave each of the men's widows a flag and hugs at the Gold Star Families Memorial and Park.

He said he hopes he never comes back to the wall to add other names.

Chairman Kurt Kaner says he and other members of the Gold Star Families understand how the families of Jimenez, Gary and Marmolejo feel.

Samuel Jimenez was killed during the shooting at Mercy Hospital on Nov. 19 last year.

Conrad Gary and Eduardo Marmolejo were struck by a train while responding to reports of shots fired on the city's Far South Side.

They join 582 other Chicago police officers killed in the line of duty. All are memorialized on the wall.
