CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Cook County's first baby of the new year is unique -- in more ways than one.
She was born at five minutes past midnight: Yarehlie Nava, the 8-pound, 14-ounce baby of an Elgin couple. She was born at AMITA Health Alexian Brothers Women and Children's Hospital in Hoffman Estates.
And she's not just the first baby of the year in the county. She's also the first girl in the family, Maria Ramirez, her mother, said.
Yarehlie's father Freddy Nava said all those boys meant a lot of the color blue in the house.
But now, he said, there is "a lot more pink than before."
Nava said mother and daughter are expected to go home on Thursday.
