CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Batten down the hatches! High winds with gusts up to 45 mph are expected tonight, creating conditions that could be hazardous for driving and ripe for blowing loose objects in the yard around. The National Weather Service Chicago has issued a wind advisory that's in effect from 8 p.m. Saturday through 7 a.m. Sunday for Cook, DuPage and surrounding counties. That means sustained winds of 30 to 45 mph are expected.
Rain is already moving through the area and will continue until the early evening. Some thunderstorms and lightning may occur, as well.
Sunday should be windy and partly cloudy with a high of about 41 degrees.
The week ahead looks warmer, with 50 degrees expected for Wednesday.
