CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Toni Preckwinkle and Lori Lightfoot took their mayoral campaigns to this morning's meeting of the Rainbow Push Coalition, courting black voters.

Both spoke about issues like crime and investing in neighborhoods and neighborhood schools.

Lightfoot hammered home her "change" theme and said voters have a choice.

"The choice is do we stay with the same old same old or do we move forward," she said.

After they spoke, Preckwinkle answered with a familiar line.

"I banged my head against the wall to try to support more women, to support more African Americans, to support more people from the Latin X community."

And Lightfoot denied making any promises for the endorsement from Willie Wilson.

"Of course I made no promises to Willie Wilson."

Preckwinkle said it's easy to talk about change, but it's another thing to make it happen.  She said she's done that as an alderman, county board president and chairperson of the Cook County Democratic Party.

Preckwinkle said she's always been a progressive independent democrat and that has not changed.
