ELMHURST (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- An Elmhurst family hopes that whoever broke into their home Tuesday and stole the cremated remains of their infant son will give them back.
Other things were taken from the home, but Jim LaDeur says he and his wife don't care about them. They just want the return of Billy's ashes.
Billy died five years ago, when he was only 10 days old.
"What we always wanted for Billy was just peace from his situation,” the father said Friday. “His middle name is Pax, which means peace in Latin."
Jim LaDeur says he and his wife planned to bury Billy's ashes with them when they die.
"He lives in our hearts. He's with our family,” he said. “But this is just so symbolic that that is what we have. We have so little of our Billy. And this is what we have, to kind of just take with us when we pass."
