CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- To make sure its employees and other “essential” workers have hand sanitizer during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chicago Park District has produced hundreds of gallons of it.
It wants to make more, but there's a problem: It needs empty containers.
Like regular consumers, the park district couldn't find hand sanitizer to buy, Director of Environmental Services Dan Cooper says.
It assembled raw materials with the help of its biodiesel supplier, Indigenous Energy, and the Illinois Soybean Association, to make 400 gallons of sanitizer.
The Park District would like to make another 200 gallons, but it ran out of bottles.
Cooper said he hopes donors will come forward to help. The Park District could use anything ranging from a gallon jug container to 6-ounce bottles.
