(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Chicago animal shelter is lending a helping hand in Florida ahead of Hurricane Dorian.
"Jumping on this to help them was something that we couldn't even think twice about,” said Jamie Gay, director of intake and foster for PAWS Chicago.
It is in the process of transferring animals from high-kill shelters in Dorian's path to Chicago.
"Friday, the animals will arrive," she said. "Everyone will be walked, fed, taken care of and settled in for the night. Our medical team will start taking a look at them Saturday and Sunday, depending on how many animals we're getting."
Gay said those animals could be up for adoption as early as next week.
