PAWS Chicago Rescues Nearly 50 Animals From Hurricane Dorian

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- PAWS Chicago welcomed almost 50 animals from Florida who were affected by Hurricane Dorian, which has ravaged islands in The Bahamas and is heading for Florida's coast.

PAWS received two vans full of 34 dogs and 16 cats from the hurricane's impacted areas to the PAWS Chicago Medical Center, located at 3516 W. 26th Street in Chicago’s Little Village, according to Julia Poukatch, PAWS coordiantor.

At the Medical Center, each pet will be given complete medical care, vaccinations, microchips and spay/neuter surgeries as needed.  Once medically cleared, each pet will be available for adoption.

PAWS is asking for help to support their relief efforts and to donate to the cause. They are also looking for homes open to fostering and adopting during as the influx of animals continues to grow.
