Police Close River North Bar After Street Brawl, Fatal Shooting

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Chicago police have closed a River North nightclub after one of its employees was fatally shot last week and another man was wounded during a street fight.

The Sound Bar has been ordered shut down, the Chicago Police Department announced Tuesday. Owners must work with police and city officials to develop a “public safety plan,” CPD said.

A 28-year-old employee of the bar, Thurman Bailey, was fatally shot early Friday during a brawl involving several people in the 600 block of North Franklin, authorities said.

Another man, a 58-year-old who reportedly was associated with the nightclub, was wounded.

No arrests have been reported.
