(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Chicago Police say they are still putting together a timeline of what happened in the moments before a 23-year-old man was stabbed and killed outside a River West bar.
WBBM's Steve Miller reports.
It was late Friday night when a confrontation occurred. A 30-year-old man -- intoxicated, according to reports -- yelled something homophobic to 23-year-old Kenneth Paterimos.
Outside the bar, police say Paterimos was slashed and stabbed and died later.
They arrested the 30-year-old but later released him.
Police Spokesman Anthony Guglielmi tells WBBM: "The individual we arrested presented a self-defense claim and now that has to be independently corroborated by detectives."
Paterimos's family says he was the victim. His mother has set up a Go Fund Me page to help pay for his funeral.
