Small dog thrown from moving car
Small Paws Rescue

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Police are looking for the person, or people, who threw a little, white dog out of a moving car on the South Side.

The dog is a Bichon Frise.

A girl said she saw it tossed out of a car around 8 p.m. Sunday night around 55th and Halsted. She ran to pick the dog up and called 311.

Chicago Animal Care and Control took the dog to an emergency clinic; and on Tuesday, the dog that has been called a couple of names, including Elf and Bob, had surgery for a dislocated hip and a broken pelvis.

'Elf' got out of surgery Tuesday afternoon and has since been recovering.

Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control said Small Paws Rescue has been raising money to pay for medical costs and will place the dog in foster care.

Elf did have a microchip, but the owners surrendered him to Animal Care and Control. It is unclear who had the dog at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police.
