CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A police vehicle was stolen early Sunday morning in West Morgan Park on the Southwest Side, and it’s still missing.
Chicago police said the missing vehicle is a Dodge Durango that belongs to a police agency other than the CPD. The vehicle is unmarked, but has lights and sirens and had a service weapon inside.
Police said thieves had been going along 109th and Talman checking for unlocked vehicles shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday morning. They apparently found the police vehicle unlocked and drove off in it.
The vehicle was last spotted near 65th Street and Bell Avenue in West Englewood around 6 a.m. Sunday morning.
Sources tell CBS 2 the vehicle may have belonged to the Cook County Sheriff's Office.
