CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The state of Illinois has reported 2,994 new cases of COVID-19 and 63 deaths in the last 24 hours. During his daily press briefing, Gov. J.B. Pritzker said 19,417 coronavirus tests have been conducted – the highest daily number yet and he says coronavirus scams are multiplying. Illinois has experienced 2,618 deaths and 61,499 cases in all since the beginning of this pandemic.

The governor said Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul will not hesitate to use the authority of his office to hold bad actors accountable.

"To the scam artists: You will be caught and you will be prosecuted.

Pritzker urged all Illinois residents to be "vigilant" and report any COVID-19 scams to the attorney general's office.
