CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- As Iran told the United Nations it doesn't want war with the U.S., protestors in Chicago also called for de-escalation.
A few dozen protesters stood across the river from Trump Tower and then marched through the cold downtown, chanting and carrying signs saying "Trump, Pence out now!"
Hatem Abudayyeh with the U.S. Palestinian Community Network helped organize the protest - one of many he predicts if the administration continues to spend time and treasure on fighting in the Middle East.
"Instead of these billions of dollars going into never-ending war in the Arab world, they could go to healthcare and they could go to education and they can go to social services here. That's the reason why the American people are out and will continue to be out," he said.
Protesters called for a pullout of US troops from Iraq, no war with Iran, and an end to sanctions, saying they are a form of war targeting civilians.
