(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Amid the chaos of Brexit, dogs and cats now find themselves living together in the chief residence of British government.
A shelter puppy known as Dylin was adopted over the holiday weekend by Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his partner, Carrie Symonds.
That means Larry the Cat, the famous mouser-in-chief at 10 Downing Street, will have to tolerate the presence of another domestic animal at the residential complex.
News broke Monday that Dylin had arrived, in a pet transport. Symonds posted pictures of the pup -- a Jack Russell Terrier mix -- on Twitter.

— Carrie Symonds (@carriesymonds) September 2, 2019Larry the cat, himself a shelter animal, was adopted by a predecessor of Johnson's in 2011 after rodents were seen around 10 Downing. He is a familiar sight both inside and outside the famous residence and has been known to maul visitors (see the Getty Images photos below).
The melding of cat and dog comes at a raucous time in British government. Johnson is trying to force the departure of Great Britain from the European Union over opponents who demand a formal "Brexit" deal to protect trade.
