CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- As part of the Democratic National Convention this week, Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul leveled a broadside at Republicans, but he also had strong words for fellow Democrats too.

In an Illinois delegation discussion on racial and economic justice Wednesday evening, Kwame Raoul accused Republicans of surrendering their party to a racist, misogynistic philosophy meant to divide the country. But the Attorney General said Democrats are not perfect either, falling short on matter of equity.

"We have championed incremental policy changes, but such changes have been insufficient, because they have not been bold enough to withstand the efforts to undermine them that is to be expected during a Republican administration," he said.

Raoul said President Trump has been bold in working to dismantle past gains, and Democrats must be bold enough to push back.

In the meantime, President Donald Trump will be in his rival's old backyard Thursday afternoon, hours before Joe Biden formally accepts the Democratic nomination for the White House. The current occupant will be staging a campaign event just outside the former Vice President's birthplace in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Advisors said the Trump speech will cover what it calls a "half-century of Joe Biden failing America."
