CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Investigators hope an examination Wednesday by the Cook County Medical Examiner will determine whether remains found on Chicago’s Far South Side are human.

Natalia Derevyanny of the M.E.’s office said the remains were found near Stony Island Avenue not far from 111th Street.

Chicago Police say construction workers found the remains in Big Marsh Park.

If investigators determine the remains are human, the next questions are who they belonged to, what happened, and how they wound up in Big Marsh Park.
