CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Chicago Congressman continues pressuring Chicago Police to investigate whether a serial killer or killers could be responsible for the unsolved murder of 55 women in the city since 2001.

WBBM's Jim Gudas reports from the South Side.

U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush brought police leaders, crime experts and community members together Thursday for a meeting at the Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies to discuss the unsolved killings of women who were strangled or smothered.

Rush said investigators owe it to the victims and their families to put every effort into finding their killers.

Rush has asked the FBI Crime Lab to help Chicago police clear a backlog of evidence. He's also asking for more federal dollars to help Chicago police process evidence more quickly.
