Robinson: 'Uncomfortable' Race Dialogue Creates Change

(670 The Score) In the wake of protests across America against racial inequality and police brutality, the Bears used their two hours of meeting time Monday to discuss issues in our society.

The conversations being held are "uncomfortable" but necessary, Bears receiver Allen Robinson said. He believes they're leading to progress as our country acknowledges matters of race after George Floyd's death at the hands of police on Memorial Day.

"The biggest thing is a group of people being past the threshold of just sitting back, being calm," Robinson said on a teleconference Wednesday. "A lot more positive has come out of this than negative.

"There's a lot of knowledge being spread, and a lot of people are opening their eyes and ears now who weren't before."

In the meeting Monday, Bears coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace opened the dialogue to players and members of the coaching staff, with the team holding an important discussion and listening to others' voices.

One of the most prominent figures in the Bears' locker room, Robinson appreciated how his teammates used "their true feeling and their true experiences" in the discussions.

What must follow is action to create change in matters of race, Robinson said.

"How can we do our part?" Robinson said. "That's what the next step is. Everybody can talk about it now. For us as a family and a group, trying to create our own way how we can impact, how we can cause change, individually and as a group."
