CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Salvation Army has temporarily closed its donation centers and is facing an unusual problem.
Donations are showing up at the doors unwanted. Salvation Army Maj. John Aren says this is a problem because materials being left at centers may have COVID-19 on them.
Donations will again be welcome when the centers reopen. For now, Aren said his organization considers it illegal dumping and won't hesitate to contact police.
For now, anything left at the donation centers is thrown away, he said.
