Scary Halloween Week Includes Snow Forecast For Some Areas

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Something scarier than ghosts and goblins may be moving into the Chicago area later this week.

The National Weather Service says a Winter Weather Advisory takes effect at midnight for Kendall County and other areas west of the city, and snow could move closer to the city in the next two days.

Snow on Halloween isn't unusual, but National Weather Service Meteorologist Kevin Birke said trick-or-treaters will have to bundle up, as temperatures will be way below normal.

Another round of rain for all & snow for some is on the way late tonight into Wednesday morning. Some accumulations towards 2-4" appear possible across some of our western counties which could result in slick spots and lowered visibility towards the early-morning commute Wed. pic.twitter.com/URkPdnzyLx

"Certainly temperatures are going to be quite chilly – temperatures likely into the low 30s," he said.

The normal high temperature on Halloween is 56 degrees.

Since 1871, snow has been recorded just six times on Halloween.

Snow could first develop on Wednesday morning for western areas, with rain possible closer to the city.
