(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The second rabid bat of the year has been confirmed in Will County.
The Will County Health Department confirms this week a rabid bat was found on a driveway of a home on Aberdeen Road in Frankfort.
Earlier, a rabid bat was found on Florence Avenue in Steger.
In both cases, it appears neither people nor pets in the area came into contact with the rabies-carrying bats.
The Will County Health Department advises people to stay away from any animal suspected of having rabies and report it to authorities.
It’s also recommended to make sure dogs and cats are up to date on rabies vaccinations.
Last year, Will County had 19 confirmed rabid bats.
