JASPER COUNTY, Ind. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A semi truck full of frozen bagels caught fire and its rear went up in flames on an Indiana interstate road Oct. 6.

According to the Indiana State Police's Lowell District, the northbound semi driver was carrying a box trailer around 5:40 p.m. when a state trooper noticed it was smoking heavily from the rear axle. After he stopped the semi, the brakes on the semi-trailer caught fire and spread to the trailer itself.

The driver, Quiner Louis of Boynton Beach, Florida, disconnected the tractor from the trailer and was unharmed during the incident. He was driving a 2013 Freightliner, owned by Balkan Logistics Group out of Countryside, Illinois, which was loaded with 38,000 pounds of frozen bagels.
