CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Who said people are the only ones who can enjoy a Thanksgiving feast?
Before us humans enjoy our Thanksgiving meals on Thursday, the Shedd Aquarium thought the sea otters should have a feast of their own.
According to the Shedd, trainers spent more than eight hours creating realistic-looking Thanksgiving staples like “mashed potatoes,” “carrots,” and “green beans” all from some of the otters’ favorite foods, like frozen krill and clam, fish, squid, shrimp and more.
With it being the first Thanksgiving at the Shedd for rescued sea otter pups Cooper and Watson that were rescued off the coast of California earlier this year, the aquarium saw it fitting to do something special for them.
But don't worry, the Shedd's other six otters were not left out! All the otters were invited to enjoy the Thanksgiving smorgasbord and they did just that, the Shedd said, "eating their fill and stashing away treat in their natural pockets to enjoy later."
Happy Thanksgiving!
