CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- With little vehicle or foot traffic in the city due to the shelter-in-place order, a street performer took advantage of the quiet on Monday in the River East neighborhood.
Many of us have had surreal experiences in recent days - certainly new experiences, whether it's streets that are empty or boarding a train to find you are alone. The sound is different, so quiet at times.
And on Monday morning, the streets were eerily quiet, and then came a voice echoeing off the buildings near Illinois Street and Columbus Drive. Local street performer, Andrew David took advantage of the quiet, performing Jeff Buckley’s “Hallelujah” to the emptiness.
Street performers may not be among the professions considered "essential", but we are pretty sure those who could hear him were not complaining.
