CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Two people were shot Thursday in Chicago, including a man who was killed in Altgeld Gardens on the Far South Side.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert at about 4:53 p.m. in the 13200 block of South Rhodes Avenue and found the 36-year-old with gunshot wounds to the head and chest, Chicago police said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office hasn’t released details on the death.

In the day’s other shooting, a 25-year-old man was critically wounded in Lawndale on the West Side.

The attack happened at about 11:45 a.m. in the 3200 block of West Lexington Street, Chicago police said. He was standing in his apartment when two gunmen walked through the garage area and shot him through a door before running off.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital for treatment, police said. No arrests have been made.
