CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Three people were wounded Monday in shootings across Chicago.

The day's latest shooting injured a 37-year-old woman in Uptown on the North Side.

The woman was walking on the sidewalk at about 6:50 p.m. in the 4900 block of North Kenmore Avenue when two people approached her and fired shots, Chicago police said.

She was struck in the chest area and taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where her condition was stabilized, police said.

A man was shot Monday afternoon in Avondale on the Northwest Side.

The 23-year-old was walking on the sidewalk in the 3600 block West Belmont Avenue at about 12:30 p.m. when someone in a passing vehicle shot him in the leg, police said.

He was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition, police said. No arrests have been made.

In the day's first reported shooting, a 36-year-old man was wounded in Roseland on the Far South Side.

The man was in the 10000 block of South La Salle Street at about 8:50 a.m. when he heard gunfire and realized he was shot, police said.

He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with a gunshot wound to his abdomen, police said. The gunman ran away west from the scene.

Monday's shootings follow a weekend in which 17 people were shot — two of them fatally.
