ATMs Among Property Stolen From Chatham Businesses: Police

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) --- Chicago police are warning businesses in Chatham to review their security systems after series of burglaries in the South Side neighborhood.

Someone broke into at least five businesses and stole property, including currency, electronics and other goods, Chicago police said. An ATM was stolen in one burglary and money was taken from inside an ATM in another.

The burglaries happened:

  • At about 2 a.m. Oct. 28 in the 1000 block of East 79th Street;
  • At about 9:15 p.m. Nov. 3 in the 8200 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue;
  • At about 9:30 p.m. Nov. 6 in the 8600 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue;
  • Between 9:30 p.m. Nov. 18 and 9 a.m. Nov. 19 in the 800 block of East 82nd Street; and
  • At about 3:35 a.m. Nov. 20 in the 8100 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue.

Police did not provide a description of any suspects.
