CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Someone tried to rob a University of Chicago student Sunday in Kenwood near the university’s Hyde Park campus.
The student was walking on the sidewalk at about 6:30 p.m. in the 5500 block of South Greenwood Avenue when someone approached and pushed them to the ground, according to a statement from the University of Chicago Police Department.
The suspect tried to take the victim’s backpack, but ran away after seeing a campus security officer nearby, university police said. The victim was not injured and no property was stolen.
