CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Chicago police officer was shot Wednesday in Lawndale on the West Side, according to preliminary information from Chicago police.
About 3:45 a.m. the officer was in the 1300 block of South Lawndale Avenue when he was shot, police said. The suspected shooter has been taken into custody.

The male officer was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital where he was stabilized, according to the Chicago fire officials.
Details of the shooting were not made available by police.
