CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Cook County medical examiner Thursday confirmed 99 more deaths related to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The newly confirmed deaths bring the county's toll to 2,179, according to the medical examiner's office.
Cook County makes up about 70 percent of the 3,111 COVID-19 deaths in Illinois.
Illinois health officials Thursday reported 2,642 new cases of the virus, bringing the number of cases in the state to 70,873.
