CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Cook County sheriff’s office announced Sunday that they had mobilized 80 officers to help the Chicago Police Department and south suburban police departments respond to widespread protests in the wake of George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis.
Some of those 80 sheriff’s police include members of the Hostage/Barricade Team, the sheriff’s office said.
“The Sheriff’s Office fully supports the right to peacefully protest and asks that everyone please respect the safety and property of those around them,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
