BLOOMINGDALE, ILL. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A 50-year-old Bloomingdale man allegedly strangled his nephew over the weekend in DuPage County and fled to Michigan, where authorities arrested him, according to prosecutors.
Dominick Taylor faces two counts of first-degree murder in the strangulation of Damian B. Scott, the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office said in a statement.
Taylor allegedly fled to Lansing, Michigan after the murder, which happened April 25 or April 26, prosecutors said.
Authorities in Lansing arrested Taylor on Tuesday and ordered him held on a $2 million bail, prosecutors said.
Scott was 43 years old, according to Frank Giammarese, Bloomingdale police director of Public Safety
“In the throes of a deadly pandemic, the apprehension of a man who allegedly fled the state after committing a brutal murder speaks volumes to the dedication of law enforcement in DuPage County,” DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in the statement.
Taylor is awaiting extradition to DuPage County Jail.
