The state's 10 casinos will begin their hiatus starting March 16, the Illinois Gaming Board said in a statement Friday.
"The public health of patrons, casino employees, IGB staff and others is of paramount importance," the board said.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced Friday that all schools in Illinois would be shut down, and state health officials said 14 more people tested positive for COVID-19, raising the state's total number of cases to 46.
