BROOKFIELD, ILL. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a minivan Thursday afternoon in west suburban Brookfield.
Officers responded to a crash about 1:17 p.m. in the intersection of Windemere and Grove, according to a Brookfield police report.
A 50-year-old motorcyclist from Lyons was riding north on Grove when he drove through a stop sign and was hit by an eastbound vehicle on Windemere, according to the report. The 58-year-old female driver of the minivan did not have a stop sign or traffic light.
He then slid across the intersection before striking the curb and flipping over, the report states. The motorcycle came to a rest on top of him.
A witness and an officer helped to remove the bike before paramedics arrived and provided first aid, according to the report.
He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he pronounced dead at 1:46 p.m., the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
An autopsy released Friday found he died of multiple injuries from a between a motorcycle and a minivan. His death was ruled accidental.
The driver of the minivan was taken to MacNeal Hospital in Riverside for observation, the report stated. No citations were issued in the crash, according to a Brookfield police spokesman.
