CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- An SUV smashed into a bus stop and a storefront Wednesday, and the vehicle’s driver is nowhere to be found.
The 2003 GMC Envoy sideswiped a southbound Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon at about 9:45 p.m. in the 3200 block of South Ashland Avenue, Chicago police said. The Envoy lost control and caromed into a bus stop and retail store, while the G-Wagon hit a light pole and spun out.
The Envoy’s driver got out of the vehicle and fled on foot, police said. The driver of the G-Wagon, a 64-year-old man, was not injured.
Area Central detectives are investigating.
