(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The forecast for an ice storm is prompting people to stock up on road salt, Quick Melt and special pet-friendly ice melt.
Three west suburban stores says business and the weather are brisk, WBBM Newsradio’s Bob Roberts reports.
It’s been a busy couple of weeks for Dressel’s Hardware owner Bob Dressel, who says his store at Chicago and Harlem in Oak Park already had to restock on ice melt because of the snow and polar vortex.
At PJ’s Ace Hardware, assistant manager Peggy Williams said she had 100 bags of ice melt, but only a couple of scrapers and shovels.
Rich Schauer, the owner of Schauer’s Hardware, at 7449 Madison St., in Forest Park, said he’s ordering new supplies twice weekly.
