CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Thousands of people lined the streets of Chinatown Saturday afternoon for Chicago's Lunar New Year parade.
The people who packed Wentworth Avenue between 24th Street and Cermak Road were there for the parade and the opportunity to soak up the sun for the first time in over a week.
This year's Lunar New Year parade was the first one for Kristen Remolana of Chicago, who said the nice weather got her outside.
Some people did wear masks to prevent the spread of coronavirus but Remolana said she's not worried.
"They say you have a higher chance of catching the regular flu so I'm Ok. I'm not worried about it," Remolana said.
Lelsey Cai, a first generation Chinese immigrant, said she won't give in to coronavirus hysteria.
"We still came to the parade and we think that people aren't solving the problem. They're creating more problems," Cai said.
