DEER PARK (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Three Chicago women were arrested and face mutliple charges after attempting to evade police during a chase in a stolen car that hit a police squad car and then crashed into a highway ditch.
The women — Jonva Vivetter, 18, Dezire Cashay Ann Parker, 20 and Jamesha McChristine, 21 — were wanted for a previous retail theft incident in the Chicagoland area, according to Lake County Seargent Chris Covelli.
He said sheriff deputies at a retail shopping area in the 21800 block of West Long Grove Road in Deer Park noticed the stolen car and the suspects from previous retail cases.
Vivetter, the driver of the car, hit three other vehicles as well as the squad car in the chase and after driving into the ditch on Highway 53, tried to flee on foot before getting tazed by police, officials said.
The stolen Chevrolet Impala, which was reported stolen from Bloomington, was filled with $2,500 worth of retail items also believed to be stolen, police said.
The women face charges of retail theft, shoplifting, resisting arrest, aggrevated battery and fleeing police. Vivetter was also charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and shoptlifting and retail thefts in Arlington Heights, Skokie, Cook and Lake County. The women are being held at Lake County Jail.
