(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Illinois Tollway Authority workers always respond to stranded drivers, but in June some employees helped another kind of traveler in distress.
On June 16, the Tollway got an unusual call, for an injured hawk on the side of the road at Illinois Route 390 near the I-290 interchange.
It was a hawk with a busted wing. Two workers were able to wrangle the bird and get it to their headquarters. It was transferred to the Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, where the hawk has been recovering.
