BERKELY (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Leaders of the Illinois Tollway tried to reassure residents of two western suburbs that the agency will protect parks and the Illinois Prairie Path when work begins on the I-88/I-290 exchange at the Tri-State Tollway.
The Toll Highway Authority held a public hearing Tuesday at the Berkeley Village Hall to talk about how the project will affect Berkeley and Elmhurst.
Officials said the Illinois Prairie Path will remain open during the work. Improvements will include better lighting and drainage.The Central Tri-State is being reconstructed from Balmoral Avenue to 95th Street to provide congestion relief. The $4 billion project includes reconstruction of the I-290/I-88 Interchange.
